In this class, we discussed audience, which is the person or group you want to target in your story. I was guilty of making the mistake of addressing only my peers and Professor Carr. In the grand scheme of things, I had to think deeper. I had limited myself to just peers and the professor for many essays when writing reflection papers, including my literacy narrative, as shown below:
“That is also the reason my audience would be my peers since people my age tend to be more likely to struggle with this sort of thing. My audience is also the professor since I would want my teachers to keep this in mind. “
Over time, however, I learned the importance of branching out my audience. I have to think of it as if I were going to publish this essay. Sure, there would be a lot of people reading it at that point but, who exactly would I want to read it? Who would I be addressing if I made this essay viewable to the public eye? I took this into consideration with later assignments such as my blended genre essay. My blended genre essays states, “That is also the reason my audience would be my peers since people my age tend to be more likely to struggle with this sort of thing. My audience is also the professor since I would want my teachers to keep this in mind.”
