Design is how we structure our assignments. It is the format of our writing. Design is how we are assigned to form the essay. We are given prompts in this class and guidelines as to how to structure it. We are given specific instructions on how to cite sources, how to introduce quotes in our paragraphs, how to structure paragraphs in the form of an intro, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and so on. Regarding the body paragraphs, how these in particular are structured could vary. For instance, in an argumentative essay, we are asked to support our argument as well as acknowledge and debunk the opposing side. To show this, I stated in the multimodal assignment,
“A common counterargument to everything that has been said thus far is that there may not be enough time.”
This was a counterargument that I have highlighted in my essay about why Asian American history needs to be taught more in the school curriculum. Instead of just bringing it up from out of nothing, I have to weave it in after my body paragraphs by trying to smoothly transition into it in its own paragraph, as shown in the image above
